Realms Of Glory Bright ( song # 1)

Hi everyone! We just recorded the music tracks for ten songs to go on our new recording, and we want YOU to be the first to hear the new songs! You will hear guide vocals (also called scratch vocals) along with the music tracks. These are VERY basic. Their purpose is merely to give the musicians and you an idea of how the song goes, so the finished product will be very different from what you hear in these clips. We just want you to hear the new songs and tell us what you think of them! Here is the first one.

And, please, SUBSCRIBE (in the upper right of the page) so you don’t miss any of the others coming up.

Realms of Glory Bright

On the planet far below the throne of heaven
In the darkness untold generations passed
An ocean of despair where man was sinking
There seemed no refuge on this sea so vast
But God was listening and He heard our helpless cry
From the realms of glory bright

Though the Lamb was born slain before the world’s foundation
Wrapped in mortal flesh He came to Bethlehem
And emptied of His glory we would watch Him
Take up our cross our punishment our sin
And there was silence as the cross was lifted high
In the realms of glory bright

Now our song is oh to grace how great a debtor
Lifted from each ransomed soul that’s been redeemed
And we know because of Christ we’ll have forever
We’ll fall down at His feet and we will sing
For one day He will call our names and we will fly
To the realms of glory bright

Oh hallelujah hallelujah
Gone is the curse of death the fear of night
Our salvation meets celebration
For the realms of glory bright

This is definitely the makings of a great song.

I’m not sure how far along in the process you are with this. The track sounds pretty polished, so I am not sure if the following will be a moot point, but here are two thoughts:

    (1) From a lyrical viewpoint, I thought it was interesting that instrumentation was added for the last two lines of Verse 2. Might it improve the musical texture for those lines, beginning with the words “and there was silence,” if there was less instrumentation for those two lines, perhaps with a slight ritardando?

    (2) In verse 2, the printed lyrics begin with “Though the Lamb was *born* before the world’s foundation.” Lauren sings, “Though the Lamb was *slain*…” Which is correct?

      Daniel,
I checked with the writer, Sue Smith of Brentwood Benson Music, and the correct lyric is Though the Lamb was “slain”.

Also, we’ll be able to make the music grow quieter in verse 2 at “and there was silence” during the mix. Thats a very good suggestion. Its also been interesting to read the suggestions regarding orchestration and other opinions. Thanks for listening and responding.

Hey guys, just wanted to add one thing about the lyrics….we are taking steps to ensure that we sing the more scripturally correct lyric. The song was written to say “Though the Lamb was slain before the world’s foundation” and we’re just making sure that we get the lyric scripturally correct before we release the finished product. Thanks for listening!

Great point Lauren. I read through the lyrics so fast the first time that I didn’t really pay attention to that. But when I looked again I was thinking “He was BORN before the world’s foundation, not SLAIN before the world’s foundation, wasn’t He?” Like you, that is something I am going to research because it doesn’t make sense to me that He would have been slain BEFORE.

It’s nice to know that y’all care enough to check into these kinds of things - you never know when it could make a BIG difference in someone’s walk with Him.

      Hello,
This is one reason why I love to listen to you guys! Every song that you do is based on scripture because it is the Word of God! I can’t thank you enough for making sure that the messages in your music have a strong bibical truth! I thought this song sounded great! Being a musician myself, I have always loved songs that have full orchestration. This just adds to he message!

    This is a great song!

I agree with Daniel Mount on his idea about less instrumentation for the 2 lines starting with “and there was silence” It’s a little over powered there and with the lyrics, if the instrumentation made the same statement , I think it would have an impact.

I like the fact that Lauren used “slain” rather than “born”, I’m not sure if it was on purpose.

I am probably in the minority here, but I also think that too much orchestration will take away from this song rather than add to it. I hope you will keep orchestration to a minimum and the music more simple and let the lyrics and vocals express this song.

Thanks! Talley Trio, for giving us an opportunity to add our comments as you go!

Ok yall, remember what was written just before the video? Scratch performance! I know how it will come out and the orchestration will not overpower and thank the Lord for sound techs! If Lauren had stayed in the same key, yes I can see the music possibly backing off, but she didn’t. She transposed into a key that is not a minor key but a key that is, what I call, making your point and building for the last verse. I can’t wait to hear the “final performance”. :)

      Hi Cheryl,

This song will start out with the group singing the first verse and then go into some different solos and group lines until the choruses, which will be all trio as well.

When we are recording music tracks, the person who knows the song best or has the lead sings along with the band. I was listening to instruments and making notes, while Debra was actually meeting with a website designer during this song.

Thanks for listening and posting. We enjoy hearing from everyone.

Oooh, this is a “keeper!” A song that plays over and over in one’s memory banks.

Just wondering if in each verse on the words “cry” “high” and “fly” what would it sound like if raised the note or even kept it same as previous note and emphasized them more. (Instead of singing a lower tone.) Strictly an amateur observation.

    Great presentation of wonderful lyrics.

And it’s GREAT to hear that your Mom is okay - PRAISE THE LORD AND HALLELUJAH!!! Looking forward to seeing y’all again - is your Mom coming with you this year, too?

As for your singing - you are singing to the Lord and that’s all that matters. I’m sure Lauren will tell you the same thing - sing for Him and He will work it all to His glory :)

Caitlin is at a camp in Pennsylvania (she’s providing the special music all week!), so she isn’t here to reply. Pray for her–this is the first time she’s done music on this scale, and I’m not there to “help.”(Probably a bigger issue for me than it is for her. LOL!)

I have to admit, we met so many people last year that I’m not sure who you are–can you refresh my memory? I think I might know…were you there with your husband? Either that, or you’re the teen we spent some time with….

Caitlin and I will both be at Steve Hurst again in…what, 18 days??! We’ll have to try to reconnect, and then I won’t forget you again. :-)

I really like the song, the sound and the message!

An idea is to have Lauren sing the first verse, Roger and Debra sing the second verse (with the accompianment cutting out for the last 2 lines of 2nd verse)…sing the 3rd line in unison and then the 2 harmonize on the 4th line.

Then all 3 sing on the last verse in a majestic way breaking into amazing harmony (that you do so well) on the Hallelujah part.

That is my suggestion…since you so nicely asked for our ideas.

I love your music. You have 2 folders on my iPod, I have so many!! Keep focused on the ONE to whom you sing to!

      WendyJoy,

Thanks for your suggestions! We’re actually thinking alike in a few ways….The song is keyed for a group unison on the first verse with some harmony lines. I (Lauren) will sing the lead on the second verse(since that’s where the key works for me) and the group will sing 3 part harmony on the third verse and choruses. Hope you enjoy the finished product!

    Hey guys,

As you may know Columbus,Indiana is REALLY bad. They have had major flooding and recently some levies broke and about 2 feet of water went into the city and flooded peoples houses, buisnesses, and cars. Well, I could say the water ruined everything. People have lost so much and they just need our prayers. Just Friday, Friday the 13th, we had severe thunderstorms and Columbus is even worse now, they had 2 1/2 inches of rain fall. It might not compare to other states that are worse, but we need to pray for all our flood victims. If you live in Indy PLEASE PLEASE make a donation to the flood victims. Most of them never had insurance. They lost everything. You can make food donations, can goods and such, money donations, water, water, water. Since they have flooded they have been advised to boil their water for a while now. I will write back later and give information about where you can send or drop off your donations in Indiana. Remember PLEASE make donations if you can.

First of all - I really like this song, too (okay, confession - I listened to today’s post, 06-15-08, before I listened to the first one). I was just curious about the candles - is there a purpose for the candlelight other than y’all just wanted to use candlelight? Just trying to see how all this fits together. It’s very interesting.

Hi everyone! Since I was one of the writers on “Realms of Glory Bright” (my co-writers were David Moffitt and Joel Lindsey), I just thought I’d comment on the discussion about the line “Though the Lamb was slain before the world’s foundation.” We took the line from Scripture… Revelation 13:8 (And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.)

The commentaries I have read on this verse talk about how
God is speaking about the eternal election of grace which spans time. Christ was foreordained to be slain. It is the same as if that sacrifice had been made before the creation of the world.

Here’s a link to more information on this: http://members.aol.com/twarren28/slainfounda.html

This idea just humbles me and reminds me how big God is and how much He loves us.

By the way, my very favorite Dottie Rambo song alluded to the same verse. “Behold the Lamb, behold the Lamb, slain from the foundation of the world.”

Hope that helps clarify the lyric.

I’m thrilled that Roger, Debra and Lauren are cutting this song! They are awesome!
