Comfort Me (song #8)

Thanks to all of you who gave us title suggestions. We will be studying them and will let you know what we decide.  Now, here we go with our eighth song, Comfort Me!  Let us know what you think. Does the addition of this song give you any more title ideas? If so, you can jump back to the CONTEST post and add new ideas.

Comfort Me

Chorus
Comfort me I need your arms to hold me
Whisper the words you won’t let go
Comfort me you’re my best friend
You know me
You never leave me alone

V1
When I’m hurting and confused
When it’s hard sometimes to find the truth
When there’s nothing I can even say or do
Speak to me
Give me peace

Chorus

V2
When I’m captured by my fears
When the pain I see is way too near
When my strength is gone you tell me that you’re here
You know the way
You’re not afraid

Chorus

Love those mellow vocals Debra! You’re my hero. The soft prayer we’ve all prayed at some time. Curious if the writer would consider changing the 2nd to the last line in 2nd verse to “You are the way”? If they don’t want to change it it’s still a beautiful song.

How about “You are the way, I’m not afraid” at the end of the second verse, to add to Ed’s comment?
Great song, great message, loved it!

Debra, That was another great song! This mix of styles that you have so far in this album is amazing. This song has a great message of how we as believers need to trust God for everything, no matter what trials come our way. God gives us the ability to handle trials if we come to Him for help.
With this, I would have to say that all the songs so far on this album address this issue. So, my title for this ablum would be My Hope Is In the Lord. Becasue if you look at the titles for all the songs, this is at the core of all the songs and the messages that they are trying to get across. Are lives should be lived, My Hope Is In The Lord, in everything we do.

    Hey y’all,

Thanks for all the interesting comments and suggestions. I haven’t been posting this week because Mom and I have been teaching all week at the Steve Hurst School of Music and when we’re done at night we’re just ready to collapse into bed!

Today I had the chance to just sit and listen to the songs we’ve finished so far and I am very pleased. I think we have a particularly strong collection here and I can’t wait for all of it to be completed. Thanks for all your help in making this project a great one (hopefully!) :)

Songs that you recorded six years ago, do you still sing those in the original keys you recorded them in or do you go in the studio and lower them? Oviously, as we mature and get older, our voices get a little bit lower. I was just wandering if you still sing those in the original keys or not?

Great question Clay. We still sing all of our songs in their original keys.

It’s quite common for singers’ voices to lower as they age, but it isn’t inevitable. If singers pay close attention to proper vocal technique and take good care of their voices, the voice doesn’t have to lose any range at all and some singers even get better with age. Glen Payne is a good example of a gospel singer that got better as he got older. I’m a big Barbra Streisand fan and I think her voice sounds just as clear and strong at 60 as it did at 20.
