My favorite singer is, that hard. I would have to day Lauren Talley (I mean The Talley Trio)are my favorite southern gospel group although David Phelps is not bad. I wish I had just 5% of his signing voice so I would not sound so bad. I would also have to say Steven Curtis Chapman. I have everyone of his CDs.

Talleys: His Life For Mine, The Healer, Orphans of God
Ivan Parker: I Can Only Imagine, When I Get Carried Away, I’ll Do The Miracle
David Phelps: He’s Alive, No More Nights, The End Of The Beginning

I have been a Dallas Cowboys fan since I was 7, and a little boy in my grade loved them. (He was very cute.) I really like the Bangels(spelling?) but only because they have cool helmets. What can I say, I’m a girl.

I have so many favorite singers that they are hard to narrow down, but I can tell you how it went growning up. As a very young child, I loved the Heritage Singers & George Beverly Shea. As an Early teen I loved Evie Tournquist. (Still really love her) In High School, I wanted to be Sandi Patty. Through out all of the years I have loved my Aunt Brenda’s voice, and she is the one who taught me to love Southern Gospel. I learned everything I know about Southern Gospel from her. That’s why I’m a huge fan of the Talleys now. I would have to say that instead of favorite singers, I now have favorite songs. I love the Winds of the World, and am waiting for the accompaniment to come out. I saw you have it on a cd with all the other songs, but no background singers. Alas, I really need those because I don’t have any of my own. Have a super day all!

    As for college… GO ORANGE!!

Now my favorite singers, I grew up loving country music. Eddy Arnold, Connie Smith, Loretta and then later Barbara Mandrell and Reba. Now I play the drums so I love music that has soul and a great beat. You give me a singer that can touch my heart and make me cry for my Lord, then you have my favorite singer!!

Wow! Hey Lauren sounds like you really opened up a can of worms when you gave everybody free license on the football thing. I guess I didn’t help things with my Steelers jokes. All in good fun! I’ll probably reap what I’ve sown this coming Monday night when the Ravens battle it out with the Steelers. Tis the season for football I guess. I said it before and I’ll say it again, GO RAVENS! The current catch phrase among Ravens fans right now is “We’re wacko for Flacco!” I think the Titans are going to end up in the Superbowl this year, outside of that I think it’s anybody’s guess. I’m not into any college sports, but if I were I’d probably be Maryland Terps all the way, or Penn State since I live so close to Pennsylvania. I have a lot of favs as far as singers. The Talleys:), Guy Penrod, Ivan Parker, Booth Brothers. I could go on and on. Hey I’m surprised your Mom and Dad haven’t got in on this forum Lauren.

I could list a thousand singers, but at the top of that list would certainly be The Talley Trio, Barbara Mandrell, Doug Oldham, Jim Reeves, Sonny James, and Christy Sutherland. I love the Talley Trio Christmas CD. Debra sings better than Karen Carpenter! And, Lauren, your singing captures my heart everytime. I especially like the Brooklyn Tabernacle choir as well. I grew up listening to Southern Gospel so if we go back more than a few years I would say: The singing Rambos
    The Hemphills
    The happy Goodmans

WOW, I haven’t been on here in 3 days and all of a sudden there are posts on football. I love it!! My favorites are NFL-Tennessee Titans, Carolina Panthers, and then whoever the ex Tennessee Vols are playing for (for instance Peyton Manning with the Colts).

The Favorite Singer category is considerably harder. I have several favorites for different reasons. I think my 2 girls are both awesome for many reasons. Lauren is very gifted vocally but I also admire her hard work and determination to always deliver her very best Debra has a great texture to her voice and the heart that makes a song meaningful. Some other singers I enjoy are I grew up loving The Carpenters, the Downings, and the Speer Family’s arrangements. I admire many singer today, but the thing that draws me to a singer is their ability to pour their heart into a song, whether they are a gifted vocalist or not doesn’t really matter. Some people that do that are Sandy Knight, Kim Collingsworth, Connie Hopper, Jason Crabb, Peg McKamey, etc. I like and appreciate all stles of music from jazz to “downhome” Appalachian gospel. Lauren says I should tell you that I don’t listen to music very often. Most days if I turn the radio on, its on sports talk. I really prefer driving in silence. That’s the only time I get to enjoy the quiet!

That was an interesting choice! That’s the first vote I’ve ever gotten. Thank you! I will dedicate you a song the next time you’re at one of our concerts.

    Lauren,

What is your favorite venue ? Big Concert / Dinner Show / Church Setting / or just at home with your family ? What is the reason you chose the one you did ? Or don’t you really have a favorite ? What song really makes you get emotional or cry when you hear it, or sing it ?

The one and only ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE. I LOVE Alabama football. We didn’t win the SEC but it was still a great season. (bout time we had a winning season again) Don’t care much for pro football but I do like to watch both Mannings. Even though the’re from Ten, Ten, Ten, I just can’t say it. You know what I mean. I think Peyton is better.

Favorite Singer: Honestly Lauren is who I have been listing too for the last 2 or 3 months. Ran across some videos on youtube and love the sound of your voice and the emotion you put into your songs. My wife likes you too, so its not hard to decide what we’re gonna listen to in the truck. Well ya’ll take care and ROLL TIDE ROLL!

My last comment was supposed to say “even though he’s from (you know) I think Peyton is better. We were in tennessee on vacation back in October, the week before the alabama/tennessee game. I have my truck decked out with alabama stuff flags, decals, etc. and got some interesting looks and a few comments. Some were actually not bad. Anyway just wanted to correct myself.

I think I saw Lauren’s dream vehicle in Harrisburg Pennsylvania today. I was stopped at an intersection next to the mall and a dark blue Honda Element came through the intersection with a Colts license plate and it had a large Colts horshoe about two foot tall on each door. You weren’t in PA today were you Lauren?! :)

I am not a huge sports fan, so I don’t have any favorites when it comes to pro teams. However, considering I just applied to Auburn University and believe I will be accepted, I have become an Auburn tiger fan! LOL. I love that school.

As for favorite singers, it all depends on my mood. Sometimes, my new favorites emerge out of CDs I’ve recently bought and stay that way for a while. To narrow it down some though, I really like to hear Lauren sing anything, and also like Adam Crabb, Valerie Ruppe, Kim Lord, Joyce Martin, Joseph Habedank and Bill Shivers. So much for narrowing things down!

I don’t do sports of any kind. But I do have a favorite singer. David Phelps. What a voice. 2nd place would be the Talleys, The Hoppers. Jeff & Sherry. I used to really like the old group of the Gaither vocal band, David Guy Mark and Bill they had a much richer sound back then, David and Mark Just made a much better sound. I have not written in a while been very sick. Sure is good to hear from ya all again. I watch your vedios on you-tube every day. I am home bound for health reasons so that’s my entertainment and I really enjoy it.

Favorite college football team: Kentucky Wildcats. Someday, and it will be before the Rapture occurs, the Wildcats will give the Vols a beating in football. :-)

Favorite pro team used to be the Bengals. After several years, I realized that there are more entertaining ways to waste time.

Favorite singer? On a really good day, I can narrow it down to a top 10. Today, I’d say Ernie Haase, Doug Anderson, Lauren Talley, Debra Talley,Shirley Caesar, David Phelps, Wes Hampton, George Younce, Glen Payne, Eddie Kendricks,David Ruffin, Mark Trammell, Daniel Mount, Guy Penrod, Connie Hopper, and Danny Funderburke. LOL..wasn’t a really good day!

I’d have to say that -like Daniel- I haven’t ever seen a football or any type of sports game. Southern Gospel is my thing!! I love the Talley Trio (of course!), Perrys, Booth Bros., Gold City, Hoppers, Karen Peck & New River, ErnieSigSound, Greater Vision, Crist Family, Browders, etc. My favorite song varies. Right now it would be between “I Know It Was the Blood”, “Life Goes On”, and “Jesus Saves.”

Hey Talleys! I was wondering, have you ever considered doing a get together or some sort of meet and greet for the Talley Tree-O? Since you guys started this website it seems like it’s really been a big hit with all the Talley fans. I remember that you have done some homecomings in years past, which can be a large task to pull together. I know that you have had a lot on your plate at home and on the road lately so a large undertaking would probably be more than you would want right now. If you’re going to do Singing in the Sun this year that would be a great place to host something while you were down there, provided you were going to host something. There are so many great places to eat in Myrtle Beach. I know Kirk is always putting things together for his “Krew members”, so that’s what brought the whole idea to mind. It’s amazing to see how far this website has gone in just a short amount of time. Sometimes it’s kind of nice to put a face with a name. Just an idea to ponder. Have a great day!

    Hi Sam.

That is a really great idea. I’ll look into that and see if we can make that happen! Singin’ In The Sun is in Myrtle Beach SC, Apr 22-25. Let’s see how many people might be there, and if there is enough interest, we’ll try to schedule something. If any of you can be at Singin’ In The Sun, let us know!!

That would be pretty cool Roger. It would be a fun way to get to know some of the Tree-O members. I’ve been down to Singin in the Sun the past two years, so to any of the other Tree-O members that have not been, you won’t be disappointed. The concerts are hard to beat, top that off with great preaching and the nice warm weather, it really makes for a refreshing week. Did I mention all the great places to eat?! I’m going to probably go again providing things work out with my vacation time.

Thank You Louise, I would like to say Merry Christmas also !

Jesus Christ was born on Christmas day ! He was willing to come and give all of us the free gift of eternal life. He also gives us divine contentment and joy, so when we get discouraged, that joy deep within, sustains us. Sharing that joy with others is manifested by doing good deeds, which will live on, long after us.

Roger, Debra, and Lauren thanks for ALWAYS encouraging us in the different seasons and times of our lives, with your music and sincerity. ” Life Goes On ” is but one example.

There is nothing more encouraging to me than singing along loudly and enthusiastically playing ” Mountain Mover “, while taking my hot morning shower. After that, I’m ready to take on the world ! :)

Truly, Life Does Go On !
