And The Winner Is…

Drum roll, please!

Congratulations to Mark, the very first to guess the answer to my
trivia question! He correctly guessed that the lyrics in the last post
come from the song “I Can Still Celebrate Christmas,” from the
Talleys’ “A Family Christmas” recording released exactly 20 years ago.
A T-shirt is finding its way to Mark as we speak.

And no, my mother has never received a chainsaw for Christmas,
although I’m sure she’d like one.

Lauren, well if that was 20 years ago, how many Talley groups have there been besides the current one ?

This is just a fun question ! If you were born Lauren Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, and you were still the same person (qualities, talents, and personality), do you think you would still be in the music industry, or what do you do you think you would be doing with your life ? :)

      Great question Jeff.

The best answer I can come up with is that if I were not raised in the family I was and around the music business, I likely would not be the same person I am today. Most of my skills and talents have been honed and developed through various activities I’ve been involved in through the music industry, such as teaching, writing, producing and arranging.

My life situation has also greatly influenced my spiritual life through the people I’ve come in contact with and just different circumstances God has allowed into my life. Undoubtedly being in the family I am has led me to opportunities I might not have otherwise and I’m thankful for that.

But if I had to completely step outside music, I could see myself working in retail/marketing, public relations or maybe broadcasting. (If ESPN needs someone to sing, I’m their girl!)

Lauren: I can’t imagine a world without Lauren Talley singing the praises of the King! What you do, with your mom and dad, is absolutely wonderful. Besides that, it’s entertaining!

Keep up what you’re doing, Kiddo, and let ESPN find their own singer!

Lauren, this is a reply to Jeff. I think that there has been 3 Talley Groups. Before Lauren it was Roger, Debra and Kirk. Roger’s parents use to sing, so that makes it 3.
Lauren, you all have a Happy New Year. The Talley’s need to make it back to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The Talley’s have a lot of fans here in the DFW area.

There have been four Talley groups.

The first was an “unofficial” Talley quartet, comprised of Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Talley (my grandparents) and another couple with the last name Talley, who, interestingly, are absolutely no relation to our family. They sang locally when my dad was a young boy.

The second was the original Talley Trio, made up of my dad, Roger, his brother Kirk, and their sister Diane. They sang together as kids and recorded two albums.

The third of course was the Talleys (Roger, Debra and Kirk) and the fourth is the current Talley Trio.

Joyce, we’ll be down your way very soon :)
