So. We’ve begun work on our new classic gospel songs CD. We decided to make this more fun by letting you guess the song(s) we are working on. We’re gonna give you some clues but you’ll never hear the song lyrics: first we’ll say something about the song, then you’ll see us around the piano at Crossroads studio planning the arrangement, then you can listen to an mp3 of the finished music track. From these clues, see if you can guess the name of the song.
Oh yeah, one more thing. We’ve set up with Crossroads a way for you to pre-order the CD and get a BONUS!! Here’s how it works: order the CD by clicking HERE and we will let you download the album for free as soon as it is finished–before it even goes to manufacturing AND we will send you the finished CD as soon as it is finished — before it goes to stores. You can be listening before the CD is even finished!! If you do this pre-order, we will notify you when the download is available. So just click HERE to make your pre-order for both the free early download AND the early CD.
Now here are your clues to the first song. Send us your guesses!!

He’s so good to me
Reply to PudgeI agree with Harold above. The song is “He’s So Good To Me.” This song was also on the project Anthony Burger, Ivan Parker, and Kirk did as “The Trio” filmed @ Kirk’s house.
Reply to BrendaHE’S SO GOOD TO ME!
Reply to GLENDAI agree with the others “He’s So Good to Me”. I first heard this sung by the Goss Brothers.
Reply to Carol OwnbyI have no idea what the song is but I really like the music!
Reply to JaniceIDK…….sounds like a good song. It reminds me of “God is Great, Good, and Merciful”.
Reply to RJ HendersonI have absolutely no idea what song that is, but I like the way it’s starting out though.
Sounds like it’s going to be a good CD. I’m looking forward to listening to the finished product.
Reply to Sam KerfootWell, I know who does all the work in the studio now and who has the fun. I have to agree with the others, “He’s So Good to Me”. This sounds like it will be a good one. I wasn’t old enough 25 years ago to really remember it well.

Reply to ROGER SANDSI could not tell what the song was either. But when I downloaded the song, and the file name came up, I noticed that the song was He’s So Good To Me. I did like song a lot, I think Debra will do a great job on the song. The other question I had was, what did the piano player have written on his notepad? When the camera zoomed in I could not make out what he had, they did not look like notes or cords.
Reply to Mark BehrensStudio musicians do not use notes or chords. They chart songs by a number system. They are much smarter than people give them credit. Using this method allows them to play the music in any key. (For instance, if you saw /1/4/5/ on the page, if the key was C then #1 would be C and #4 would be an F and 5 would be G.) My knowledge of this is limited but that is the best way I know to answer your question.
Reply to Kay BarrettKay is correct; studio musicians generally do not use written music with lines and spaces. The number system allows them to easily play a song in multiple keys without changing the chart. In most cases all musicians record the basics of the song simultaneously and then go back and add “overdubs”- extra takes of particular instruments.
Studio work happens very fast and there is little to no time for rehearsal. Using a number chart enables a studio musician to play a song he/she doesn’t know. The players are very skilled at their jobs; in many cases they play a song having never even heard it.
Reply to Lauren TalleyIt sounds like the song Janet Paschal sang many years ago, “He’s So Good to Me.” Are you going to identify who sang it in addition its name?
Reply to Andrew StephensMy vote is for “He’s So Good to Me” also. The artist is Janet Paschal and comes from her I Give You Jesus album recorded in the early 80’s. Great song that fits Debra’s voice perfectly. This is such a cool idea and is going to be as much fun as being in the studio with you guys on the “Life Goes On” project. Thanks!
