Kay is correct; studio musicians generally do not use written music with lines and spaces. The number system allows them to easily play a song in multiple keys without changing the chart. In most cases all musicians record the basics of the song simultaneously and then go back and add "overdubs"- extra takes of particular instruments.

Studio work happens very fast and there is little to no time for rehearsal. Using a number chart enables a studio musician to play a song he/she doesn't know. The players are very skilled at their jobs; in many cases they play a song having never even heard it.

My vote is for "He's So Good to Me" also. The artist is Janet Paschal and comes from her I Give You Jesus album recorded in the early 80's. Great song that fits Debra's voice perfectly. This is such a cool idea and is going to be as much fun as being in the studio with you guys on the "Life Goes On" project. Thanks!

It sounds like the song Janet Paschal sang many years ago, "He's So Good to Me." Are you going to identify who sang it in addition its name?

Studio musicians do not use notes or chords. They chart songs by a number system. They are much smarter than people give them credit. Using this method allows them to play the music in any key. (For instance, if you saw /1/4/5/ on the page, if the key was C then #1 would be C and #4 would be an F and 5 would be G.) My knowledge of this is limited but that is the best way I know to answer your question.

I could not tell what the song was either. But when I downloaded the song, and the file name came up, I noticed that the song was He's So Good To Me. I did like song a lot, I think Debra will do a great job on the song. The other question I had was, what did the piano player have written on his notepad? When the camera zoomed in I could not make out what he had, they did not look like notes or cords.

Well, I know who does all the work in the studio now and who has the fun. I have to agree with the others, "He's So Good to Me". This sounds like it will be a good one. I wasn't old enough 25 years ago to really remember it well.
Take care of Papa Rotzee!!

I have absolutely no idea what song that is, but I like the way it's starting out though. :) Sounds like it's going to be a good CD. I'm looking forward to listening to the finished product.
