Since we just started “tweeting,” let’s talk a little bit about these social networking sites. We are in the process of publishing a Facebook page (for all of you who have asked), and these two things will hopefully bring everyone together here at the Tree. What we want to know is:
1. What social networking sites are your favorites?
2. How much time do you spend on them?
3. What are your main reasons for doing so?

Myspace. I am on there all the time. Every one of my fav. Southern Gospel groups have a myspace except for the Talley Trio
. I usually am on myspace for talking to friends, talking with my fav. groups and checking their scheduale.
Reply to RJ HendersonMyspace. U guys need one. That’s where I spend most of my time. Every one of my favorite SOuthern Gospel groups have a myspace except for the Talley Trio
. I use myspace to talk to my friends, and talk to the artists. Some individuals from some of the groups have their own personal myspace which it is always fun to talk to them on a personal level. But yeah, ya’ll should get one. I spend a lot of time on myspace.
Reply to RJ HendersonDear Debra,
” Be Faithful And Consistent ” is the title of Connie’s Corner in the recent issue of Singing News. In our constantly changing world, where today right is wrong and wrong is right; it is so refreshing and encouraging to witness your family honestly trying to be faithful and consistent to God and His Biblical principles. You have not forgotten what the Gospel is all about, and you inspire us to be better people.
Connie wrote, ” Everybody is interested in big things. People like to think them and talk about them. Yet, the world is made up of little things.” She goes on to describe some of the little things in life, and what God thinks of them.
In my opinion, at the end of the day it comes down to this simple little truth – only one life and soon it’s past, only what’s done for Christ will last.
Happy Birthday Debra !
Enjoy your special day – family and friends are chocolate chips in the cookie of life.
Jeff
Reply to JeffWhat a great post, Jeff. Thanks for the confidence you have in us. We have been blessed beyond anything we could have hoped for. Connie and I think alot alike and how true her words and yours are. Life is all about the simple daily blessings. Many of us are always looking for something bigger that may or may not happen in the future. God has so much for us on a daily basis, if we will just open our eyes. Since you mentioned friends and family being the chocolate chips in the cookie of life (I like that!), last weekend I went home to visit my family in KY. I only get to see them a couple of times a year. After we left to come home on Sun, my folks got a call that my dad’s brother past away. He had been in hospice care. One of my uncle’s daughters, my cousin, didn’t go to her own father’s funeral. What a tragedy! It made me so thankful for my family and that I had just had the opportunity to spend some time with them. Life is a vapor so I hope you, me and everyone will seize this momemt.
Reply to Debra TalleyI’m primarily on Facebook.
I used to be on MySpace, but I deleted my account when I found that its founder had also run a porn site.
Besides, by that point, most of my artist and non-artist friends had moved over to Facebook and were more active there.
Reply to Daniel J. MountYeah I do need to start using facebook
. I didn’t know that about the owner of myspace. Thanx for the info
Reply to RJ HendersonBoth…Facebook preferably, there are not as many sketchy people on facebook. Myspace has a lot of bad things/people on it. It seems that more people update facebook and are on than they are twitter, or myspace. Its a great way to keep up with people, old friends. Just my 2 cents! =)
Reply to Jonathan MarvinFacebook. I like it alot better than the other networking sites and I’m on at least once a day. I stay in touch with friends and like to see how everybody is doing.
Reply to Melissa ReaganFacebook – easier to keep up with friends. Myspace is ok, but don’t seem as many people are on it anymore – facebook has taken over
Reply to MarkI’m on Facebook only. I keep it on my cell phone and check it as I have time through the day. It’s been a great way to reconnect with old friends, some of whom I haven’t been in touch with in 16 years or more.
Reply to Wes BurkeFacebook, I check it 2-3 times a day
Reply to MelissaFacebook only here!
Reply to Valerie TI have a myspace, only because my son leaves me photos and contacts me there. I have a facebook also, but I rarely go on either one of them.
Reply to Lisa SneedHi Lauren
Reply to Marita N GiskeI am useing facebook and msn.
I,m not spending so much time on it.
I’m on Facebook more than any other site, but there’s also a Christian social networking site called ShoutLife that I’m on. There are a good number of Southern Gospel artists on there already, as well as many other Christian musicians.
Reply to ChristyI’m on Facebook, and that’s all I have time for. I barely have time to keep up with Facebook and I really don’t spend a tone of time on it anyway.
Reply to Mark BehrensLauren,
Reply to Mark BehrensHow is the new CD coming? I’m sure you all are really busy, but I was just curious to see where you were at with the recordings? I have not seen any videos since the 4th song.
Hey Mark,
We only shot about 4 videos. The new CD has just been mixed this past week. We are expecting to have it the first week of September. You guys are going to LOVE it!
Reply to Lauren TalleyFacebook all the way!…I Like the privacy it offers. I check it pretty well everyday.
Reply to Kimhey Lauren,
I use facebook alot I am on about 3 or 4 times a day. I haven’t gotten into twitter yet. but maybe I will soon. Idk. I get on facebook to talk to my friends, and family. I think it is a great way to stay in contact, I love the live chat.
I also like how only your friends can look at your page. I will look for the new page.
love and prayers,
Jessie
Reply to JessicaI primarily use Facebook. Most of my friends and family use that and many of my favorite SG artists do as well. I check it several times per day, but spend little time on it each time I check. I follow a select few peoples Tweets, but I rarely tweet myself. Glad to hear y’all will be creating a Facebook page!
Reply to Meagan WilliamsMostly facebook, usually check it several times a day, sogocity, gaithercommunity, shoutlife. I left myspace because of the advertisements. I miss my grandchildren and friends that are on there. It was just too much for me. I’m on these sites to communicate with family and friends. I enjoy the Christian fellowship and hide the ones that need to be saved or grow in the Lord.
Reply to RebeccaI use Facebook. I like that only the people I allow can see my info and pages. It has been a great way to connect with people from years ago. It is also a great way to keep up with the daily events in the lives of “the famous”…..singers and writers such as yourselves. I look forward to spending time on your page when it is up and running.
I check facebook everyday and probably spend an hour each time.
I go to facebook because it is a fun, quick way to keep up with family and friends.
Facebook has been the safest site, (so far)
Reply to WendyJoyI have facebook and twitter. I am on twitter at least once a day. Facebook I don’t get on so much. I have one friend on it because that’s all she’s allowed to have and I talk to her on it! I’ve really gotten into twitter. I have a myspace but don’t get on it much either!
Reply to HannahI am on Facebook and I check it alot. I like it because I have gotten in contact with friends that I have known most of my life that I had lost contact with. Alot of SGM artists have fan pages as well as their own profile page. Kirk just recently joined. I am on Gaither Community just not as much as I used to be. I still check it because I have made such goo Christian friends on there. I can’t to find you on Facebook.
Reply to KaseyRecently signed up on Facebook to connect with some old friends. Don’t care as much for Myspace
Reply to Ed DunlapI’m a facebooker…it’s easy to navigate and work with. It’s the best in my opinion. I know this is off the current topic but who all is ready for some college football? Its almost that time!!!
Reply to DerrickI am SOOOO ready for football season! Summer seems so long without any basketball or football…I’m not into baseball
Reply to Lauren TalleyAMEN Lauren! It’s getting closer to the Fall season, Ravens training camp is going on and I’m starting to get the itch. As far as the social networking thing goes though. I only use the Tree–O and have just started doing twitter. I haven’t done the Facebook thing yet. I haven’t had a lot of time to mess with it. I’m sure your Dad told you by now I booked the Trio for October. I’m going to be pretty involved getting things ready for October. Sounds like the Trio has a pretty full plate too lately.
Reply to Sam KerfootFirst UT game is Sept. 5…CAN’T WAIT!!! GO VOLS!!! I’m ready for basketball too. My sister is a freshman at Milligan College this year. She is playing basketball there.
Reply to DerrickHi Mark (and everyone else)!
I am finishing up the new CD this week and we hope to have them by Sept 4 at The Gatlinburg Gathering. We ran into a problem with the videos that we had made during the recordings and the rest of them had to be scrapped. Sorry about that! I’ll go ahead and give you a song list since you guys only got the first four.
Amazing Grace, The Promise, Just A Little Talk With Jesus, Pass Me Not, Its Jesus, How Big Is God, Hold On, He’s A Personal Saviour, If It Had Not Been, He’s Alive, Oh What A Reason, and Hes So Good To Me.
I’m really excited about this project and we can’t wait to start singing them on stage. We hope you enjoy this recording.
Reply to Roger TalleyCool can’t wait to hear it.
Reply to RJ HendersonI use Facebook and just started using Twitter yesterday. I use both for promoting my business and keeping up with friends.
Reply to DeeFacebook is my choice. I spend way way too much time on it. I’ve become addicted to some of the growing games & have to check on my crops, etc. frequently. It’s nice to get re-connected to people you’ve lost track of over the years as well.
I have a MYSPACE & I’m on Tweeter but only spend minutes in comparison to the hours I can spend on Facebook.
Reply to Elaine Harcourt1. myspace &+ facebook, just getting into twitter
Reply to allie may2. i spend way to much time on the computer period.
3. i spend most of my time on myspace b/c i like fixin’ my profile, i used to talk to friends on it alot, but now i just txt.
Facebook …..check several times a day
Reply to Mary CampbellI have Twitter, Facebook and Family-n-Faith Network pages. I LOVE all three of these. I really like that I can update on Twitter and it automatically puts my update on Facebook – so I only type once! LOL
Family-n-Faith started out as a women’s only site, (Christian Women Connected) but then it was decided that the husbands and children also wanted to be able to connect, so we changed it to include them.
I didn’t like Twitter when I first signed up there but it was really new at the time and I didn’t really understand it – now I LOVE it – it is so great to get bits of encouragement all throughout the day just by realizing that we are all just PEOPLE – we ALL put our pants on one leg at a time and we ALL have joys and sorrows along this journey called life. Like someone on Twitter said (Lisa Whelchel, I think). . . 140 words is plenty to give you that encouraging lift you need sometimes
I’m glad y’all are on Twitter now and also glad to see that you are working on getting on Facebook. I’ll be looking for ya there
In His Love,
Reply to Kathryn ChampionKathryn
Recently I signed up on Facebook because a lot of people I know are on there. I prefer it over Myspace. I’m on maybe two to three times a week.
Reply to Roberta MorganCan I get A Accompaniment track and lyrics of ” I KNOW HOW TO SAY THANK YOU…..Please e-mail me and let me know where to send money to …I can’t find this song anywhere in Accompaniment form…
Thank you,
Reply to Brenda crockerBrenda
That’s a real pretty song.
Reply to RJ HendersonBrenda,
Reply to Debra TalleyI missed this one when you posted, sorry. You can see and order all of our products on the regular website, talleytrio.com. We have a complete on line store. Some of the older tracks may not be there, but if you don’t see what you are looking for, just call Bobbie at our office. All of the info is on the site. Thanks!
I am on facebook everyday. but I do have myspace, and I just started twitter a little while ago.
Reply to Darla StockingHi Lauren:
Reply to Ronald BradleyI get on Facebook on a daily basis. I am proud to
support the Tally Trio.
Facebook is my favorite because I have gotten hacked on myspace twice. I think facebook may be a little safer. I at least get on facebook once a day or once every other day.
I like it because I can socialize with people from my past. I am talking elementary school, high school, college, even old teachers that I have had are my friends. I have chatted with several gospel singers too. It feels really cool to get a message back from one of your fave singers. I talked to Stella Parton a few times. I wouldn’t have done that if I didn’t have facebook. It’s really neat. Jason Crabb talks to everybody too.
I love ya’ll and hope your doing well.
Sarah Chapman
PS…..My dad bought me a Tennessee Vols shirt..and I kinda like it!
Reply to Sarah D. ChapmanWell we are new to the whole social networking thing…it seems we are the last ones to the party
But thanks guys for helping us learn!
Reply to Lauren TalleyHello Lauren How would you possibly know that much about social networking. You must be extremely busy with all your tour dates and the new CD and all. Facebook is the place to be. See you there Mike
Reply to Mike McGibbonWell we manage to stay in touch pretty well I think, we carry laptops and Blackberrys on the road everywhere we go.
Lack of time does make it a little difficult though. That’s why we haven’t done much on Facebook or anything like that; we do well to check our emails every day or two.
See you there!
Reply to Lauren TalleyIf you ever use the blackberry messenger add me 3056cb36
Reply to Jonathan Marvinwell face book is what my parents go on there on this very second but thats there fav. not a big fan of myspace it not really that well its not really a place ment for christans to go on ill just put it that way well thats what i think even though im only 10 thanks
Reply to melissaHey everyone,
Reply to Debra TalleyLauren is on the Alaska cruise and I haven’t posted in a while. Thanks for all the comments and info. You guys really help us!
I guess you and Roger don’t know how to act having the week off, well sort of. When I talked to Roger the other day he was weed eating
I can’t seem to catch him at a good time.
Reply to Sam KerfootI love facebook. I keep up with friends both close and distant. To me it is easy and safe. I’ve never used Myspace but have friends who did but they too switched to FaceBook.
Reply to MIchelle HuttoDebra, Happy Birthday!! I hope you have a great day.
Charles and I are looking forward to seeing you all in Athens, Texas in September.
We love you all.
Charles and Joyce
Reply to Joyce BusterHi Joyce,
Reply to Debra TalleyThanks for the birthday wish. I had a really nice day. Roger took me shopping and then we went to a great restaurant for dinner. It’s been a while since we have seen you, so we will look forward to seeing you in Athens!
Hi Lauren:
Reply to Ronald BradleyI will be in Mobile January 17-21 to see the
Talley Trio in Concert. I have a picture taken
at the Marina Civic Center in Panama City Fl.
about three years ago. Thanks for being a sev-
vant of God.
I think the networking site that is used the most would be facebook! First of all, most people have switched from other sites to use it, and secondly, its way more easy to use than all the others!!!
Hope this helps!
I love you Roger, Debra, and Lauren!!!
Shannon
Reply to Shannon ReevesI just wanted to say that I very much enjoyed hearing you guys last month.
I heard you in Shrewsberry PA with my dads group, the bay city quartet. It was an awesome night! That was my first time hearing you all. As soon as we got in the car I was singing your songs. I went home donwloaded everything on itunes and printed the lyrics. I plan to sing some of your songs at my church. You all were truley a blessing to me. I also must add that I loved Laurens outfit. You are quite the fashionista. Also my brother loved helping your sound guy ( I dont remember his name) he talked about it for days. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us.
God bless
