Thanks for taking us along with you. This is neat ! Question: Do you guys have to watch what, when, and how much you eat because of performing soon afterward ? Or don’t you basically give a hoot !
Reply to JeffI have to watch what I eat before I sing; I find that some foods affect my voice more than others. My pre-concert snack is usually a piece of fruit and some peanut butter. Mom usually doesn’t eat much at all; Dad doesn’t care
He says he sounds the same whether he eats or not, so he just goes ahead
Reply to Lauren TalleyI too picked up that pound at Tony’s last night!
The food was excellent, but the concert was so inspirational. Keep up the good work for the Lord! P.S. Had a wonderful dinner at Orleans on the River tonight with the best server in the house, Kirk, of course. It has definately been a Talley weekend for us. Keeping you in our prayers!
Reply to Janet WatsonHey Lauren that’s kind of cold teasing everyone with barbeque like that
. That sounds like something Kirk would do. By the way, did you get through the concert without Kirk pulling something? I’d have a hard time believing you got through the evening without him doing something.
Reply to Sam KerfootWe really enjoyed the concert and dinner at Tony Gore’s, also. We even enyjoyed “Rocky Top” even though we are Ohio State fans. We appreciate you all giving The Lord all that you had, even with the the small crowd. It was a great way to end our stay in the Smokies. As always, we were tremendously blessed by your music. Lauren, Sarah says that if you need someone to go to Easton with you the next time you are in the Columbus area, she will be glad to volunteer.

That’s good to know
Good seeing you all last week.
Reply to Lauren TalleyWish we could’ve been there. I have this fear of having to clean his restrooms if I ever get back again. LOL Glad you all had a great time.
Reply to RebeccaOk there’s gotta be a story there?!
Reply to Lauren Talleyi wish iwas also there to join you guys you guys are wanderful amezing im really blessed by three of you God bless you all
Reply to atoliWhere is Tony’s Resturant in Pigeon Forge ? I have looked for it But haven’t been able to find it . Would love to visit next time that we are in the area. GOD BLESS!!!!
Reply to PeggyTake I-40 to exit 407 and turn onto Hwy 66 toward Sevierville. Tony’s is just a few miles down the road…it’s a small building on the right side. Look for the billboard…that’s the only sign.
Reply to Lauren TalleyHey Peggy, A little more specific directions would be five miles off interstate on the right. When you see the quilt place on the right, Tony’s is next. He has a billboard, but it’s just past his drive. You can also see the smokehouse in front of the restaurant. Tell him we sent you! Enjoy!
Reply to Debra TalleyI’d like to know who does most of the cooking in the Talley Trio. And, I’d like to know when each of you cooks, what are your specialties?
Reply to Greg ParkerI can’t wait till you are back in Lakeland, FL., so please hurry back!
Mom is the accomplished cook in the family and she specializes in traditional southern, country cooking. However, she likes to try new things and experiment, and most anything she makes turns out really good.
I’m just learning to cook but I’ve really gotten into it over the last year. I like to make comfort food because that’s what I like to eat
I also like to cook Italian food. My specialty is my meatloaf and a dessert called sopapilla cheesecake.
Reply to Lauren TalleyTony’s place is on Hwy 66 in Sevierville on the way to Pigeon Forge….on the right hand side coming from I-40
Reply to Mary CampbellWhat a chef and great place to eat!
Question for Lauren : How do you keep your voice in tip-top shape to hit high keys without a break in your voice ? What is your secret ? Through cold season and all ?
Reply to Lisa SneedThis could turn into a really long answer but I’ll try to keep it brief
Smoothing over the break area takes a lot of time and practice but in a nutshell, one needs to learn to develop a mixed placement, which means manipulating the vowel so that the tone resonates in the head. Vowel pronunciations are the key to a good tone placement and singing high notes comfortably. If you can carry head placements all the way through the range it makes the transition through the break area much easier. I realize it’s a bit hard to explain here so stay tuned for more on this from me in the future
I also have a really good voice doctor, Dr. Richard Quisling, who keeps me in good shape.
Reply to Lauren TalleyWow. That’s pretty cool. That’s why it seems like you’ve been hitting higher notes here lately
Reply to RJ HendersonDear Lauren
Reply to Ceinwen MacnaughtonWow! Your explanation(above)is so interesting. You have worked so hard to develop your beautiful voice.
Keep up the good work, we never tire of hearing you sing.
Ceinwen ( North Wales. UK.)
Thanks for the information . I sing alto and sometimes find it hard to carry the note . But it comes from straining .I have been singing RED LETTER DAY and do o.k. It all comes down to practice . Thanks again ,Lauren. I will look forward to more information .
Reply to Lisa SneedMake sure your jaw is dropped especially on high notes, and avoid consonants after vowels like Rs, Ls, Ns and Ms
I’m a natural alto myself so I feel your pain
Reply to Lauren TalleyI always thought you were a soprano???
Reply to RJ HendersonNope
I’ve learned how to sing the necessary high notes when I need to, but naturally I’m an alto. I guess some people assume I’m the soprano because of the types of songs I usually sing, and the fact that Mom has always been known as the alto.
Most singers’ speaking voices give away what voice category they really belong to
Reply to Lauren TalleyOh. Wow. So basically you can do both?
.
Reply to RJ HendersonWe saw your family in concert when you were around 5 or 6 in Michigan. My daughter says you have an album with a song about popcorn. Do you remember? If so, I have a two year old granddaughter I would love to get for her. She loves music.
Reply to Linda JacksonWell…when I was about 6 years old I recorded a song called “What Makes Popcorn Pop.” Unfortunately we don’t have any more of those recordings. Sorry!
Reply to Lauren TalleyHi Lauren Talley,i would like to ask you this Are you trying to have programme in India?.We would love to see you in India.Especially in the North east of India. Moreover I would like to tell you that Mizoram is the only Christian State in India.Hope you could visit to have a music worship service.
Reply to LakimaLauren–will your new solo project be out in time for Christmas presents?
Reply to Rachel OvertonNo
My book is in publishing now and we are holding the album until the book is ready to be released, then they’ll both come out together.
Reply to Lauren TalleyFinally I have made it to your site – first of all thanks so much for your ministry. On October 23rd in Shelby, Oh you really ministered to my Mom and I. Mom had come to visit me that weekend and told her that the only real plans that I had for the weekend was going to your concert. It was Mom’s first time to hear you at all and she was deeply moved. It was the uplift I needed that day as I had just received my layoff that day at work. I come to hear you whenever you are close enough for me to drive, can’t wait til the next time!
Reply to Lynda WenzelHey Lynda, I’m sorry to hear about your layoff. I’ll be sure to pray for you during this time. I can truly relate to your situation. I’ve had to go through so much stress with my job over the last year. The company that I worked for for 10 1/2 years shut down and I ended up at the company that purchased their assets for about a year and then I was laid off from there about one month ago, Oct. 5th to be exact, right after the concert I promoted in Shrewsbury. I’ve never had to deal with anything like this before and hopefully once it’s all over I never have to again. As crazy as it sounds I don’t know if it’s all been a bad thing. Financially it’s a little stressful but at the same time I’ve found that this thing just gives me the opportunity to trust in the Lord more. In my own personal experiences I’ve found that in day to day life we sometimes take God’s provision for granted or tend to trust so much in our ablilities, but it’s the tough times that really allow you to trust God wholeheartedly, the times when ONLY God can make a way. God has a plan, purpose and a reason for everthing. I saw a quote on a church sign on the way to see the Trio in concert in Myerstown Pennsylvania shortly after I got my layoff notice. It said “God often uses spades of sorrow to dig wells of joy.” It seemed so appropriate at the time. I’ll be sure to keep you in prayer as will all the other Tree-O members.
Reply to Sam KerfootOh I’m so glad! We’ll pray that God gives you an even better job
and we’ll look forward to seeing you next time.
Reply to Lauren TalleyThank you so much Lauren. I appreciate you and your parents. The friendships and ministry you and your family give to me and so many others means a lot. Your family touches a lot more people than you’ll ever know. Maybe next time I see you your book will be out and I can get an autographed copy
Reply to Sam KerfootBeen trying to find “He Didn’t Leave Me” on you tube. Am wondering why it was or is never posted? I sure like that song ever since I heard it. All because Jesus didn’t leave me the way He found me! Praise The Lord for His mercy endures forever!
Reply to R JohnProbably because we never sang it much live
but we’re glad you like it!
Reply to Lauren TalleyOnly an old dream. lol
Reply to RebeccaHi, this has nothing to do with what y’all are talking about, unfortunately. I’m sorry about that, but I’m still not too familiar with the site and wasn’t sure where else to post this. I just wanted to send a huge thank you to Debra for taking the time to chat with me after (during?) your show in Roseville, MI yesterday. I’m the girl who was all discombobulated because I wasn’t able to get to the show on time and missed your set. …I’m not sure how to explain myself but I want to try… My mom passed away this past spring (I’m 23) after a five year battle with cancer so this year has been really rough. But God never ceases to amaze me and the miracles I have been a witness to (and sometimes been able to play a part in) in the past few months would lift everybody’s heart. One of those miracles is the woman who came with me to the concert. It’d be way too long to get into here, but she has been one of the biggest blessings to me. AND she had never been to a gospel concert before so I was absolutely thrilled to be able to be the one to introduce this Christian to music and fellowship and people of a kind like she’s never known before. Now, I can’t lie, I almost cried when I found out we missed your singing; it’s all I have been talking about since I bought the tickets two months ago. …But you know what? My friend was soooo blessed by her experience last night. God really touched her. And if it was a matter of getting there late or her not being able to come at all, I wouldn’t change a thing. …But I have to say, from a more selfish stand point, your taking the time to talk to me for just that little bit was such a treat for me, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
(And I WILL see you in the future!!
)
Reply to KateHi Kate,
I’m so sorry you didn’t make it to the concert soon enough, but I’m very glad you and your friend had a great night. Please tell her we hope to see you both again very soon!
Reply to Lauren TalleyHi Kate, It was so great to meet you and talk with you. I felt so bad that you had missed our part of the concert, since you said that you had specifically come for that. You never know why such things happen. It could be that God was protecting you from something. We’ll never know, but you did make it and I’m thankful your friend was blessed. Hopefully we will see you again in the near future. (be there an hour early!) Just kidding! LOL Debra
Reply to Debra TalleyOh I will be there at least an hour early!! lol! and I’ll let you know I’ll be there so maybe, just maybe, IF it happens to work out and God smiles on me you guys can sing Testify
(and that lovely gentleman from the church emailed me the picture of the two of us– that was so nice of him! Next time I’ll make sure to bring my camera…. and do my hair!! haha)
Reply to KateHey Lauren ! I did it !!!!! I sang RED LETTER DAY at church this past Sunday . I didn’t do bad at all , other than being terrified. No one knew that I could sing , other than choir directing and choir. SURPRISE !! I ‘ll give God all the glory because He gave me the voice and for Him I will keep on singing ! Pray that doors will continue to open in this direction for me and my son, who also sings. LOL
Reply to Lisa SneedAtta girl!! Very proud!
