In the Studio: Thou Oh Lord (song 3)

This was recorded at the end of a long day, and everyone was tired. After the track was cut, Lauren said that during the rehearsal, she felt like the choir director and the choir! Watch as she introduces the song, then teaches everyone their parts.

And yes, Debra’s cell phone did indeed go off right as the song was starting. Lauren said afterwards that she was about to burst out laughing, and then she realized that the studio musicians in the next room hadn’t heard it. With how perfectly the introduction was turning out, she didn’t want to lose the take, either, so she managed to start singing as though nothing had happened!

I’m glad you’re doing “Thou Oh Lord.” One of the most powerful songs I’ve heard in years – maybe ever. God bless you folks and your ministry. We’d love to attend one of your concerts someday, but it’s kind of hard with us being overseas. We thank the Lord for you.

Thou O Lord has always been a favorite of mine, ever since I first heard it by Brooklyn Tab. It is a perfect song for you all! Can’t wait till I can hear the completed version of it… talk about leading us into worship??? You all already do such a fabulous job doing that anyway… this song will just take us to new heights!
Love you all real BIG! – Donna

Wow Lauren your quite the director. That song sounds really cool. I think I counted three key changes in that song, wow that’s a lot! For this song how many takes did you have to do to get what you wanted? It this a normal for each song or is there an average number of takes before you like the final version?

Mark – I was there that day, running the camera. They ran through a couple parts of the song in advance, making sure they had the arrangement right, but would you believe, once the recording equipment was rolling, I believe they nailed it in the first take!

They’ll work on vocals separately; this was the session where they were recording the track.

This is hilarious to watch this. When Lauren and Debra are around the piano at the beginning, Debra does not look at all thrilled when Lauren keeps pointing to her and giving her cues for her part..or else she had a headache….haha!!!

Cheryl – I’m not so sure that it was a headache, as that it was quite the complex arrangement at the end of a long, long day in the studio, and everyone was incredibly tired.

    BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I absolutely love this song! The message is so very true!

I love the rehearsal part! It makes me miss the studio! Jason Webb is an amazing musician to work with. We have the opportunity to have two out of three times! He is a musical genius.
