It takes many hours in the studio to get vocals just perfect for the recording of a particular song. Here, we show you some video clips of us working on “Thanks To Calvary And Amazing Grace.” You won’t hear the whole song, just some parts we are working on. This is where we perfect and learn the song’s vocal arrangements. It is a tedious process but it makes for a great recording and prepares us to “get it right” for actual performances. Singing the song correctly has to become “second nature” for us so when we are singing for you in concert, we can focus on the Spirit rather than the details of singing.
Album Title! LIFE GOES ON (credit R J Henderson)
We want to thank each one of you who posted suggestions for
the title of our new recording. You came up with some very
creative ideas and we had a tough choice to make.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can’t believe it. Thank you SO VERY much. You don’t know how happy I am. This is like the coolest thing ( besides getting saved ) that has ever happened to me. I thought of “Life Goes On” because we face trials everyday, and no matter what, life goes on. With Jesus we can face tomorrow

Great fit for a title RJ! Hey Debra! It was nice to talk to you and Lauren last Saturday. I really enjoyed the concert. I would have to say I think that was probably the first concert I’ve been to where there were cows outside of the seating area though. Hey if you know anyone that might be interested in a box I’ll probably have another one up for grabs in about a week provided nothing unforseen happens, like a major mess up or something, so I’ll be open to offers if it would appeal to anyone. Tell Lauren, Roger and Greg I said hi. Take care!

Surprise Song Just For You (song # 9)
So many of you have asked us over the years if we would ever re-record this song, we decided to do that for this new album. At concerts and churches, wherever we sing, this is always our most requested song. So here it is re-created just for all of you. Read More

Vote For Your Favorite Photos!
Hey, here’s one we really want you to jump into. We have some of the photos from our photo shoot and we are starting to work on the CD cover. You can see that we have Group Photos, Lauren Photos, Debra Photos, and Roger Photos. We think we want to use the individual shots for the cover and maybe a group shot somewhere else in the insert. You can comment on that idea. What we want you to do is pick your favorite photo from each set. We have way too many photos (over 300) to show them all here but your choices will give us an idea of the types you like. Read More

I think that individual shots for the cover is an excellent idea and group shots for the insert is also an excellent idea. I could not just chose one of any of them, for the individual shots of Lauren I picked Lauren-Tan-1 and Lauren-Orange-1, for the individual shots of Debra I picked Debra-Orange-4 and Debra-Green-3, for the individual shots of Roger I chose Roger-Purple-1 and Roger-Orange-2 and for the group shots I chose G-1, G-8, and G-11. I think that those are the best photos, although they were all good it was very hard for me to chose. Thanks for letting me be a part of the process.

Hi Talley’s,
Nice photos, but watch the angle of the camera - it’s better if the camera is at least as high as the eyes of the person(s) being photographed - keeps “not so nice” areas of the body from being highlighted.
I’m fascinated by the process that you are going through to get the new album out. It really takes a lot of time and effort by a lot of people.

Lauren,
Is it ever “strange” working with your parents? I love mine dearly, but I don’t think I could work with them and be with them all the time. Do you live at home with them?
Whatever you all do, the Lord is blessing your music and your ministry.
Remembering that God is STILL God,
Reply to WendyJoyWendyJoy
Yes I do still live at home (I can’t resist a good deal). We’re a pretty normal family and we do need time away from each other occasionally! Actually on our days at home we are usually going in three different directions and are involved in our own endeavors so we aren’t together ALL the time- although it seems that way sometimes!
We’ve always had a very close relationship, we dearly love each other and we’ve always been very thankful for this; we probably couldn’t do this if we didn’t. I think it’s very important to have a personal life and family time away from the music. Sometimes it’s hard to find a balance but it’s very important.
Reply to Lauren TalleyIt is a LOT of hard work - but it DOES pay off in the end because soooooo many people are touched by the songs. One day you’ll be in heaven and someone will come up to any one of y’all and say “I never met you but one of your songs is part of the reason I’m here today” Now, when you think of it that way, all the hard work (and boring work - lol) seems like nothing at all, doesn’t it?
You guys are GREAT! Keep up the good work.
Reply to KathrynWOW. That looks like fun and hard work. CAN”T WAIT TILL the finished product
Reply to RJ HendersonLauren, I have a question. How come there are 2 stacked vocals of you??
Reply to RJ HendersonHey RJ! Good question. The answer is….
There won’t be 2 vocal passes on the finished product. I record two tracks of the entire verse and then in the mix, my dad (the producer) can pick and choose which lines or words he likes the best to come up with the best possible performance.
This is very common practice. In effect, what you hear on a CD many times is not one continuous performance by a singer, but a composite of many takes. Thanks for asking!
Reply to Lauren TalleyOne more thing- (I misunderstood your original question)
For a song like “Calvary and Amazing Grace” we choose to stack the vocals once for a bigger, fuller sound. We chose not to stack every song, just the ones we felt needed it most. Solos are not stacked and many times the lead will not be stacked at all so that it won’t sound artificial. The stacks are mixed lower than the original vocals so it still will sound like three people and not six.
Reply to Lauren TalleyI am really enjoying the sneak peak of the recording of your new album. I can’t wait until it is released.
Reply to Susie SweanyI’m always amazed at the hard work done in the studio that goes into perfecting a project for recording. This is fun to watch! Thank you for making this possible. May our Lord continue to bless your ministry.

Reply to Lauren TalleyDo your vocal chords ever get tired, or do you ever get sore throat ? Do you take any precautions about saving your voices ? I’m serious. After thousands of concerts, and many many recordings, music must definitely be your life ! This is so interesting ! Thank You.
Reply to JeffHi Jeff,
Of course we occasionally get sick like everyone else, but I very seldom experience vocal fatigue. Performing and recording as often as we do certainly helps our vocal stamina, but I’d attribute it to concentrating on proper vocal technique more than anything else. Learning to breathe correctly, place the voice properly and use volume correctly are some of the biggest essentials to taking care of your voice.
Of course resting and drinking water are important too, and we don’t do nearly enough of either one
Reply to Lauren TalleyI guess that I didn’t know what is really envolved in recording a song . Thanks for sharing with us . May GOD be with you in the recording of this C.D. .I can’t wait to hear the finished product.
Reply to PeggyI have really enjoyed watching ya’ll go through the process of making this cd. I think that it is very nice that ya’ll would take the time out of your busy scedules to let all of us be a part of this cd, I think that this will probably be the cd that means the most to me because I got the chance to vote on the album title and I have voted on the picture for the cover. Thank you very much for giving me the chance to watch ya’ll make this cd.
Reply to KaseyKasey
Thanks for the behind the scenes look at the effort it takes to put together the ‘messages’ you sing. Attending your concerts has always been such an uplifting experience, but knowing how much effort goes into doing it right shows just how dedicated you are to your special ministry.
