I am seventeen years old and this song spoke to me because I have gone through alot of things in my seventeen years, and I think if I had heard this song going through some of those things, I think I might have looked at things a little differently. Those are some of the truest words that I have heard in a long time. I think at times we all forget that our hope is in the Lord and to trust Him at all times not just the good times but the bad times as well. I think this is going to be one of the best songs ya’ll have ever recorded. Thank you for recording this song. I needed to hear this song, and to hear ya’ll sing it ment even more because ya’ll are my favorite group. God Bless Ya’ll. Again thank you for this song it ment so much to me.

My hope was in the lord and he answered my prayers. He is home today talking about Gatlinburg gathering ,Says that he wants to meet Lauren .God bless you for this song. Pray for us. Thanks

Wow. I listened to this song in tears. I had just navigated here from another blogsite I visit every day. There is a lady in Florida–a writer, Kristi Dykes–who is living this song. In November, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Her journey since then has been shared online, and it is touching people just as much as this song–and this entire CD–will eventually do.

I would ask that you pray for Kristi and her family–Milton, Jennifer, and Julie. For the clearest picture I have ever seen of true faith in action, visit their blog at http://christianlovestories.blogspot.com.

You will come away changed. God bless you as you continue your work.

This is such a good song. My grandmother passed away with cancer this past Christmas Day. I put my hope in the Lord, and I knew He knew what was best for her and for the family. She recieved Christ just about 12 hours before she passed away. I put my Trust in Him and I know that she is in Heaven and my heart feels so much lighter knowing where she is. Are you going to use this Brother Marion video as a lesson on which techniques NOT to use next month at Steve Hurst?! That was too funny. You’ve got to bring it–if only to wake us up after lunch on Thursday or Friday, when everyone is past the point of exhaustion. :-)

A unique “sound” for the Talleys IMO, but it has a good, positive message for the discouraged and downhearted, and I believe it will be a great addition to the project.

That key change toward the end seemed a bit awkward, but I’m confident it will be smoothed out as the arrangement gets polished up and those incredible Talley harmonies are worked in.

I’ve been through death in my family life, and I know life goes on - Praise the Lord for that! This song was not one of my favorites so far. It was very hard to hear Lauren - music was up to loud. I did like how the music ended - that was unique.

    Hello!
Brother Marion you sounded pretty good! Lauren, you need a little work. Just kidding! That was a really funny video clip! As for the song, I really like the instrumental part. The song sounds great, until you get to the chorus after the bridge. I like that fact that you come into the Chorus after the bridge with little accompanionment (guitar), and then in the line when you sing Jesus promised that life goes on, I did not like the holding of that note (word). I think the band should build during that line and you could keep singing the chorus as before. So far, I have been really inpressed with all the songs that you have chosen, this is going to be a really great CD!!

  9. Jeremy Bell posted the following on June 26, 2008 at 10:37 pm.

I think this is going to be another good one. I personally like the key change in there. I think it will sound better on the polished version because the vocals weren’t totally on there and made it sound weird. For the end of the song, let the drummer put some rolls in there and just fill it out. As the song builds it kinda has that rockin feel to it and the drums drop at the end. It is kind of a let down. On the first verse put in an electric guitar with distortion playing a lead counter melody then on the chorus the guitar can go to power chords with a tight (not fuzzy) distortion. As the song goes on keep crunching power chords and let another electric play some leads.

I get the feeling that this will be a little more progressive LP for the Talleys, which a great thing. It’s nice to see that there are groups out there that have the desire to be innovative. Things like this blog and things like the networking sites like facebook is going to help keep the interest of the younger crowd and help keep southern gospel alive.

Lauren. As far the bonus, your music lovin friends that have sensitive ears are dying!!! J/K ;-) How is your work going at LU or did you ever get into it? You told me at Steve Hurst last year that you were looking at doing that. I wont be there so you will have to get along without me. :-( I emailed Steve a couple days ago to say hi and let him know that I wouldn’t be there.

I like this “different” song. The hook that life goes on is catchy, and the message is an essense of the Christian faith–victory over death doesn’t mean we don’t one day leave this earth. I think this is a powerful song in a more meditative package.

Wow! My favorite song so far. I didn’t need to hear the vocals because the lyrics were knocking me out. Would love to know who wrote the song. Every line was well crafted and the song crescendoed with the last phrase of the bridge “And death itself will die”! Cool melody and arrangement.

Hey Stephanie. We don’t really know the song and the final vocal arrangements very well when we record tracks so the ending you hear on this clip will probably be different on the finished product. Yes, hence the phrase “scratch vocals.”

I’ve been a gospel singer (and trumpet player) for over 50 years, and IMO your recordings have become the “zenith” of Christian music.

Hello Roger, Debra and Lauren (and Greg)
This was a very special title. I had to think twice (and that’s not so often…haha) We really loved it, and I think the song will bless many hearts.
And it was good to hear that you also have to rehearse…haha
    Love you.

Okay - confession time - I tend to like the faster songs better myself, but this one grabbed me the minute I started reading the words. This song is very special and reminded me of the time a couple of years ago when I “sat in God’s lap with my head on His shoulder while He held me and FINALLY got through to me that HE LOVES ME!!!” I was saved a lot of years before, but since that night a couple of years ago, life has been very different - and in a good way. This song is absolutely beautiful and now has a very special place in my heart. Can’t wait to hear the ‘finished’ product :)

See you guys in a couple of weeks at the school :)

    Roger,

Great tune. It has that smooth Talley-esk sound. Stage blocking will no doubt call for the stools on this one! ;-)

Wondering…. have you chosen all the songs for the new CD? We have a new song I’d love for you to hear right away if there is an open slot.

No pressure. Just thought I’d ask!

This is a nice song….probably number 4 on this list of what I’ve heard so far. I like the faster songs, but I appreciate the tight harmony (Talley style). I also appreciate the “old message” told in the “old style” once in a while, so we don’t forget the good old sounds.

    Thanks for letting us hear!
Can’t wait to buy it when it comes out!!

This is going to be a cool song. Good lyrics and a throwback to some old school country. The first time I heard it I thought about the Gretchen Wilson song When I Think About Cheating as far as style, which was a throwback. Listenting to it again, it sounds like something that the Rambos would have recorded back in the day.

I too, am usually a fan of the faster songs but this one is my favorite so far and I’ve heard 7 of them.
What happened to the second verse? This one should be your first radio release off the project. It’s really different and it just somehow draws you in. Sandy is a great songwriter, and your arrangement is great!

I have listened to every song, and love them all.You guys have always been my favorite group. I can’t wait to hear the new CD. Two ladies from my church and I have a group. We sing at various local churches. Most of the songs we sing are your songs, using your tracks. One of the songs we sing is Travelin’ Light. Debra wrote a great song, and we love it so much we took it for the name of our group. Keep up the good work, and we look forward to hearing the new project. You guys are awesome. The winds of the world has good honest lyrics to it that have been proven true through the ages. If the music part was a little lower I could hear Lauren’s voice better and that would make the words clearer to me anyhow. GOOD song choice.

I think all of your three songs are wornderful, but to me this one song has a message unlike any other song that I have heard before. Maby it is because I have had some big storms in my life when I heard the
I began to think what if I had heard that song during some of the storms that I have gone through, maby I would have handled them differently, looked at the in a different way, and then again I might would have done the exact same thing. I am seventeen
and kids my age look at me like I am from another planet or something because I listen to southern gospel music, I look them in the eye and say it is my choice to listen to southern gospel music and yours not too. At my age I have to hear something daily that I know is true and southern gospel music gives me that. If your music only ever touches a few people me as well as my family. Continue doing what God has chosen for your life, it has touched me
more than you will ever know. I love the new it could not be any tried, but then again ya’ll are The Talley Trio, just when I think you can’t get any
    ya’ll amaze me.

Hey Kasey, I wouldn’t worry too much about whether or not the other kids like you listening to Southern Gospel. God made everyone to be a unique individual with different tastes, styles, likes and dislikes. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with you liking Southern Gospel. There’s a lot more younger people out there that like Southern Gospel than what you might think. There’s a lot of exceptional younger up and coming artists that are really good like Lauren as well as so many others that are helping to draw in a younger generation and show them that Southern
Gospel is not just for old people (I’m not calling you old Roger and Debra! You’re both pretty cool in my book.) Just be who God made you to be Kasey and let God define who you are, not the culture and you’ll be alright. Have a great day Kasey. Keep your chin up!

WOW! I REALLY liked this one. But then, I always seem to go for the more “upbeat” ones for some reason. I love the music and tempo on this one. Oh - and let’s see more of “Bro. Marion”, too - LOL
